I'm trying to amalgamate my storage and I have a few 1TB external NVME's - but having several draws more power externally which causes USB issues (it resets the controller and makes you wonder if you can't power 10 devices, why put 10 USB ports there!!! That's a rant for another day).So a 4TB seems a good idea - I can remove 2 or 3 for this one and draw less power (even though I have 3 USB hubs!!!). I also have a 2TB of the exact same type which I use for my boot/OS disk hence the title. Fitting the NVME isn't an issue, it's the same as any other. My motherboard(s) have heatsinks and this doesn't ship with one so that's all fine and the external enclosures are their own heatsinks - I just added a thermal pad for obvious reasons. Partitioning and formatting are the same for any disk and transferring the files from one to another was fine with speeds of around 400MB/S - it's external, running off a same controller via USB, I don't need 7GB/s here.BUT - as the title says - it's not the fastest in use (I'm using real usage over benchmarks) - that honour goes to my WD Black SN850X. I have multiple PC's and have moved bits about left and right and the WD is the fastest booting (by a fair margin), the Seagate CUDA is second and this is in last place (the 2TB not the 4TB which is external). Don't get me wrong - it still boots plenty fast enough, it just is noticeably slower compared to those two. But if you're looking for a second disk for gaming storage or just photo's/music etc, there's absolutely nothing wrong with this at all.
