My laptop crashed a few weeks ago, and I needed the data and files off of it, mostly thousands of pictures as I am an avid photographer and I couldn't stand to lose them. I got the hard drive out of the old laptop, but it required an enclosure like this one in order to connect to my new laptop and access the files. I looked around on Amazon for a while and this was one of the cheaper options (I didn't realize how expensive these things can be), I was between this one and another one but ended up going with this one because it had better reviews. I don't know a lot about computer programming and hard drives, and it took me forever to figure out what kind of drive I had and decide if this adapter would work, and I still wasn't even sure if it would so I was a little nervous when I ordered it. BUT it came today, and it was fairly simple to put together and use- it took me a minute to figure out how to insert the drive as I was afraid to push it too hard because I didn't know what I was doing, and the directions didn't specify which size screw you're supposed to use to screw the drive down (it's the bigger one btw), but other than that it was pretty simple to figure out and then I put the cover on and plugged it and it worked flawlessly- my laptop recognized it immediately and within ten minutes I had access to all my old files. This adapter enclosure was a total lifesaver, and I'm so happy with it. I'm going to keep it so I can use the old drive as an external hard drive for storage and backing up my new laptop. The case itself feels like it'll hold up with careful use (I mean, it could be slightly better but for the price I'm not complaining). It's metal and it's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, which is really nice because it'll be easy to store and carry around if I need to. It works perfect for my purposes and I would definitely recommend it.
